Why Volunteer
Whether you are an enthusiast with many years of horse experience or come with no experience and would like to learn more, join us and share in the miracles that happen at Walk On.
Volunteers work with our staff to build a team that helps care for our horses, prepare the horses for the lesson, and assist the instructor during the lesson (by leading the horse or side-walking with the rider) as well as a variety of additional barn tasks.

Fill out the form below. All program volunteers must be at least 15 years of age. Walk On is pleased to be partnering with many of our area schools, religious organizations, and local companies as an approved 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
We also offer great opportunities for those who want to get involved but may not want to work directly with our horses, as well as those with scheduling challenges that make a weekly commitment difficult. Walk On welcomes volunteers to help organize and execute fundraising events, community outreach, and more. We host three major fundraisers per year, workshops and participate in many community events. We need volunteers in our administration office too! Assistance is always needed with data entry, filing and many other miscellaneous tasks. We currently have volunteer shifts in the following hours:
Monday 8am-12pm & 3-6pm
Tuesday 3-6pm
Wednesday 8am-12pm & 3-6pm
Thursday 3-6pm
Saturday 8am-1pm
We also have special groups come in outside of those times that we ask for additional volunteer help, as needed.
Prepare
Please bring medical information to orientation a
nd knowledge of health history.
No food or drink allowed in the arena.
Participants cannot be given food due to possible food allergies.
Closed toed shoes are required for safety. Tie shoes must be laced and tied.
No tight or loose fitting clothing that inhibits your ability to move safely.
All photographs must be cleared by the riding instructor before being taken. Participants, volunteers and staff are protected by a photo release and confidentiality agreement.

COVID-19 Policy
We are in the process of resuming lessons to full capacity.
- Volunteers will not attend if feeling ill or presenting any known Covid-19 symptoms.
- If you cannot attend, please contact Walk On and let us know.
- Temperatures may be assessed when entering building, must be below 100.4⁰
- All persons in the barn will wear face coverings and/or shields.
- All persons will wash hands upon entering the barn.
- If wearing medical gloves, wash hands and change gloves after above events.
- Maintain social distancing of 6 feet when possible.
- The viewing room is currently not available for use.
- If you exhibit symptoms of Covid-19, or if you come into contact (prolonged contact within 6ft) with someone with a confirmed Covid-19 case, please do not return to Walk On until 14 days from exposure.
- If you test positive for Covid-19, please inform us as soon as possible.
